Hi, I’m Laura, your guide here at The Root Rebellion.
I’m a high-elevation grower and land steward, cultivating life in the Colorado mountains at 8,000 feet. To put it gently, mountain gardening is a wildcard. Between our blink-and-you-miss-it growing seasons, unexpected July snowstorms, hungry critters, and soil that behaves more like stubborn mountain granite, nature keeps me incredibly humble.
I started this blog because I believe the skills required to feed ourselves, heal the Earth, and build a resilient community should be accessible to everyone. More than anything, I want to build a community of growers of all types—whether you’re a mountain misfit like myself, a suburban gardener tending to a few raised beds, or a city dweller just keeping a couple of “free-range” containers alive on your patio. We are a collective of plant lovers who can laugh, swap survival strategies, and trade notes through the seasonal madness.
For that reason, everything I write, test, and fail forward through here is—and always will be—free.
My goal is to meet fellow growers right where they are. So, whether you are trying to coax life out of rocky clay, or you’re just starting your very first seed tray indoors- this blog is for you!
Grab a spade. Let’s grow together.
